General
The Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) is the digital equivalent of the handwritten signature – legally equivalent and recognized throughout the EU. It is based on the European eIDAS regulation and is therefore an open, vendor-neutral standard. Many lawyers assume that the QES is closely linked to beA or BRAK – this is not true. beA is merely the secure transmission path; which signature solution you use for the QES is up to you. Providers such as eSignR, DocuSign, or Namirial all meet the eIDAS requirements and can be used independently of beA.
The implementation of beA in timeSensor LEGAL 365 is based on the software toolkit provided by BRAK. Unfortunately, as of June 2026, the remote signature is not yet supported by the software toolkit. Integration is planned, but without a concrete date yet. Until then, there are three options for users of timeSensor LEGAL 365:
Option 1: Use of the remote signature via eSignR
The signature software eSignR is fully integrated as an add-in to timeSensor LEGAL 365 and allows comfortable signing of PDF documents without media disruption. Further information about eSignR can be found in the
separate FAQ article.
Option 2: Use of a third-party solution
Since the QES signature is a standard according to eIDAS, in principle any other signature solutions can also be used. In this variant, the PDF file is exported from timeSensor, signed with the third-party solution, and then attached to the beA message by drag & drop.
As an alternative to the remote signature, we recommend using alternative signature cards, for example the signature cards from the providers
