A non-breaking space keeps two words together so that they are never separated at a line break – for example, in "Type 5", "Fri: 100.–", or a name followed by a title.

Press Option + Space.

Press Alt + 0160 (enter the digits on the numeric keypad, not on the number row above the characters). This shortcut only works if your keyboard has a numeric keypad – on laptops without a numeric keypad, it does not work unless you connect an external keyboard or a docking station with a numeric keypad.
