timeSensor LEGAL 365 Installer for Windows
Introduction
The connection to the timeSensor LEGAL 365 database requires the use of a timeSensor 365 Client. This article describes the installation process of the timeSensor 365 Client for Windows computers.
Installing the client application
Click here to go to a page where you can
download the installer.
Once downloaded, the installer should appear in your Downloads folder by default, or where you saved it.
The installer should be executed by an Administrator or be provided with the Administrator's credentials in order to pass the User Access Control (UAC) prompt.
Follow the instructions below to proceed with the installation:
- Double-click the installer you just downloaded and click "Yes" on the Windows Security prompt (enter Adminitrator credentials if asked).
Choose the language you want the installer to be displayed in and click "OK".
- Accept the terms and conditions by clicking "I agree".

- In our case, we will install the timeSensor 365 Client. Select the correct component and click "Next".

Select the path where timeSensor Client should be installed. The default path is C:\ProgramData\timeSensorProgram. However, in order to ensure that the automatic update process does not fail due to insufficient rights, we recommend changing it and installing the software in C:\Users\your_username\timeSensorProgram. Click "Browse" to change the path (a new window will open for you to select the destination folder), then click "Install".
Note for IT administrators: The installation path of timeSensor Client plays a crucial role in the functionnality of the automatic update mechanism. Therefore, the software must be installed in a folder where the users have full rights inside, as the users will be executing the updater by themselves.
- The download will start. Depending on your internet speed, the operation can take between a few seconds to about 10 minutes. Once the process completes, you may close the installer by clicking "Close". A shortcut will now have appeared on your Desktop.

Pre-requisites for smooth operation
When working with timeSensor LEGAL 365, the timeSensor LEGAL 365 client communicates permanently with the cloud database. This requires a faultless network and internet connection, with sufficiently low latency to the server.
If in doubt, check the connection to the cloud database with a PING test.
PING times of less than 20ms are required for smooth operation in the software.
We strongly recommend that the workstations (including laptops) are connected via Ethernet when working in timeSensor LEGAL 365. Wi-Fi is often not robust enough for a database connection, and even small instabilities can cause connection loss with the cloud database.
Ensure that the workstation does not go into sleep mode (which interrupts the network) by setting the corresponding setting in the energy saving options to "never".
The timeSensor LEGAL 365 client communicates with the cloud database via ports 19812, 19813, 19814 over TCP and/or UDP (depending on the configuration of your database). In the event of connection problems, please check whether these ports are enabled.
First connection to the cloud database
- Start the timeSensor 365 Client using the shortcut on your Desktop created by the installer. After a few seconds, you will be presented with an error message "Failed to connect to timeSensor...". Click on "Select...".

Go to the "Custom" tab. Enter the project name of your choice (make sure to keep the same one) followed by your database's hostname provided to you by timeSensor (usually of the form abc-def.timesensor.com). Then click "OK".
The client will remember these settings and you will not be asked to enter them again.

If you need to display this window again, for example in the case of connection problems, you can do so by double-clicking the timeSensor Client shortcut on your Desktop and immediately after holding the "Alt" key on your keyboard. The window will open in the background, but you can reveal it by clicking on the icon in the taskbar.
