How to Restore a Private Cloud Backup (External Backup for timeSensor LEGAL 365) Using Duplicati?
Context
Your timeSensor LEGAL 365 system can be automatically backed up to a private, encrypted external space using the Duplicati software.
If necessary, you can recover your data yourself from this backup.
This guide explains, step by step, how to recover your backed-up data with Duplicati, from your Private Cloud Backup, to the location of your choice on your computer.
To perform this operation, you will need:
- a timeSensor LEGAL 365 contract including the F95 Private Cloud Backup add-in,
- login credentials for your backup space (username, password, server address),
- the decryption key protecting your data.
This information was provided to you by our team when your backup was set up.
Restoring a Backup
The steps below require that the Duplicati software is installed on your computer. You can find all download links for the software on the following page:
https://duplicati.com/download.
Once the software is installed, it will prompt you the first time you open it to configure a password for the software. Define a password and keep it securely (for example, in a password manager). Once this initial setup is completed, you can follow the steps below.
- Open Duplicati on your computer, if it is not already running. A web page at http://localhost:8200/ngax/index.html should open in your browser.

- Click on the "Restore" menu on the left.

- Duplicati will open the restore menu. Select the first option "Direct restore from backup files..." and click "Next".

- In "Storage Type", select "SFTP (SSH)", then enter the login credentials provided to your firm by timeSensor SA.

Then click "Test Connection". The test will start. - Accept the certificate by clicking "Yes".

The test should complete successfully. Click "Ok" to close it and return to the previous menu.

If the test did not complete successfully, please verify the information entered in step 4 and/or contact timeSensor support. - Once back in the previous menu, click "Next", enter the passphrase to decrypt your backup, and then click "Connect".

The passphrase can be found in the letter provided to you by timeSensor SA when your Private Cloud Backup contract was established. - Select the backup to restore (date), then check the parent folder to restore everything. You may choose to restore only part of the backup using the file explorer. Simply check only the folders or files you wish to restore.
Then click "Continue".

- In the restore options, select "Choose location", then "Browse" on the right.

- Choose the location on your disk where you want Duplicati to place the backup and click "Restore".

The restore will start. The time required depends on the size of your backup and your internet connection. Allow at least 30 minutes. - Once the restore is complete, Duplicati will display a success message. Simply click "Ok", then log out of Duplicati to ensure that no one can access your backup space without your permission. You will just need to enter the Duplicati password you set during installation to access the interface again.

- Open the chosen destination folder to verify that your files are accessible.
If you encounter issues:
Ensure that your login credentials and decryption key have been entered correctly.
Verify that your internet connection is active and stable.
If you still face difficulties, you can contact our technical support by email or phone, including screenshots of any errors encountered.
The login credentials and decryption key provided to you are strictly confidential. It is your responsibility to keep them safe and not share them with third parties.
timeSensor SA cannot be held responsible for data loss or unauthorized access resulting from misuse or insecure storage of this information.
Backup Content
The backup created on your Private Cloud Backup contains all the files required for the proper operation of your timeSensor LEGAL 365 server. It specifically includes:
- a copy of the 4D data file,
- a backup of all documents stored in the DMS,
- as well as all system files related to your database.
This backup is essentially a replica of the backups that we already perform for you as part of hosting your database in our data center. It is stored in a dedicated backup space, reserved exclusively for your firm, to which only you and timeSensor SA have access.
