How can I determine who created or modified a record?
General
Occasionally, one wishes to determine when and by whom a record was created or modified. timeSensor LEGAL 365 includes four additional fields for many tables for this purpose:
- Timestamp of the record's initial creation
- ID of the user who created the record
- Timestamp of the record's last modification
- ID of the user who last modified the record
Additionally, at the database level (low-level), there is journalling that logs every operation in a log file.
How can I view the custom fields?
Depending on the table, the custom fields can sometimes be viewed via the timeSensor LEGAL 365 user interface. To do this, simply click on the label at the top left of the window in a record. A window opens with About the Record. The following screenshots demonstrate this with two examples, once with an invoice record and once with a transaction in accounting.
In many list views, this information can also be displayed by right-clicking on the list box header:
In-depth Investigations
timeSensor Support can, if necessary, also extract the same data directly from the raw data of the database from tables where this information is not immediately visible, with manageable effort.
An analysis of the low-level journalling, however, is extremely time-consuming and is likely only worthwhile in exceptional cases.
